Health & Safety
At Woodvale Lodge, your safety is our top priority. Here's how we ensure a secure and enjoyable stay…
Fire Safety
All smoke and heat detectors are integrated into our security system and monitored via our phones. In the event of a fire, please follow the Fire Action Plans displayed throughout the house. If the hosts are not onsite, the person who made the group booking will act as the Fire Warden. A remote to hush the alarm, if triggered accidentally, is available in the bottom drawer under the coffee machine.
Fire Prevention
For everyone's safety, please refrain from using candles or open flames inside the house or on the deck. Firearms and fireworks are strictly prohibited on the property.
Swimming Pool Rules
Children must be actively supervised by an adult at all times in and around the pool.
Swimming without a responsible adult present is not permitted.
No running, diving, or rough play in the pool area.
Glass containers, food, and pets are not allowed in or around the pool.
Please keep gates closed at all times for safety.
Pond Safety
The property features several ponds that can be hazardous, especially for children.
Children must be supervised at all times near the ponds.
Swimming, wading, or playing in the ponds is not allowed.
Maintain a safe distance from the edge, as banks may be slippery and water depths can vary.
Staying On A Working Farm
Please be aware that Woodvale Lodge is situated on a working farm, which presents multiple hazards such as livestock, large machinery, unfenced ponds, and electric fences. To ensure safety:
Always close any gates you open.
Children should not wander the property without adult supervision.
Conserve Water
Our water supply comes from rainwater, not the town supply, giving it a great taste. The water in the kitchen is filtered and safe to drink. During the summer, especially when it’s dry, please be conscious of water use. Avoid long showers or unnecessary use of water.
Septic System
As part of rural living, we have a septic system. Please only flush toilet paper to keep the system functioning properly.
Keep Us Posted
If there is any accidental damage, or if items are missing or not working, please notify us before you check out.
Guest Responsibility
Guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others in their group while staying at Woodvale Lodge. Woodvale Lodge and its staff cannot take responsibility for any incidents related to the above guidelines. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Smoking
Smoking or vaping is not permitted in or near the Lodge. The designated smoking area is in the front car park by the fire assembly sign. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the provided sand-filled bucket next to the sign, and not on the ground or in rubbish bins.
Traffic & Noise Restrictions
Please maintain a speed of 5-10 km/h on our driveway.
We encourage carpooling whenever possible.
If you plan to access the property between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, please inform us at the time of booking. We have local shuttle services available for late-night return trips (details are outlined at the end of this manual).
To ensure everyone can enjoy their stay, please keep noise to a minimum after 10:00 PM. We are in a valley, and voices carry, so head indoors or speak quietly outside.
Do you have any questions or need further guidance on these safety measures? Please get in touch.
