Health & Safety

At Woodvale Lodge, your safety is our top priority. Here’s how we help ensure a secure and enjoyable stay.

Pool Hours, Noise & Traffic

  • The pool hours are 6:00am to 10:00pm.

  • This time frame also applies to all outdoor noise, including music.

  • If you’d like to continue your gathering after 10:00pm, please close the dining room and lounge doors facing the pool to help contain noise.

  • All visitors (non‑staying guests) must leave the property by 10:00pm.

  • Woodvale Lodge is mindful of our neighbours and the local community, so we appreciate your support in keeping noise to a reasonable level at night.

Fire Safety

  • All smoke and heat detectors are integrated into our security system and monitored via our phones.

  • In the event of a fire, please follow the Fire Action Plans displayed throughout the house.

  • If the hosts are not onsite, the person who made the group booking will act as the Fire Warden.

  • A remote to temporarily hush the alarm (if triggered accidentally) is located in the bottom drawer under the coffee machine.

Fire Prevention

For everyone’s safety:

  • No candles or open flames are permitted inside the house or on the deck.

  • Firearms and fireworks are strictly prohibited anywhere on the property.

Swimming Pool Rules

  • Children must be actively supervised by an adult at all times in and around the pool.

  • Swimming without a responsible adult present is not permitted.

  • No running, diving, or rough play in the pool area.

  • No glass, food, or pets in or around the pool.

  • Please keep pool gates closed at all times.

Pond Safety

  • The property has several ponds that can be hazardous, especially for children.

  • Children must be supervised at all times near the ponds.

  • No swimming, wading, or playing in the ponds.

  • Please keep a safe distance from the edge – the banks can be slippery and water depths vary.

Staying on a Working Farm

Woodvale Lodge is part of a working farm, which presents certain hazards such as:

  • Livestock

  • Large machinery

  • Unfenced ponds

  • Electric fences

To stay safe:

  • Always close any gates you open.

  • Children should not wander the property without adult supervision.

Conserve Water

  • Our water supply is rainwater, not town supply, which gives it a great taste.

  • The water in the kitchen is filtered and safe to drink.

  • During summer and dry periods, please be mindful of usage:

    • Avoid very long showers.

    • Avoid unnecessary water use.

Septic System

  • We use a septic system.

  • Please only flush toilet paper—no wipes, sanitary products, or other items—to keep the system working properly.

Keep Us Posted

  • If there is any accidental damage, or if you notice items missing or not working, please let us know before you check out, so we can address it promptly.

Guest Responsibility

  • Guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others in their group while staying at Woodvale Lodge.

  • Woodvale Lodge and its staff cannot accept responsibility for any incidents that occur as a result of not following these guidelines.

  • We appreciate your cooperation in helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Smoking

  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted in or near the Lodge.

  • The designated smoking area is located in the front car park by the fire assembly sign.

  • Please dispose of cigarette butts in the sand-filled bucket provided next to the sign, not on the ground or in rubbish bins.

Traffic & Noise Restrictions

  • Please keep to a speed of 5–10 km/h on our driveway.

  • We encourage carpooling where possible.

  • If you plan to access the property between 10:00pm and 7:00am, please let us know at the time of booking.

  • We have local shuttle services available for late-night returns (details are provided at the end of this manual).

  • To ensure everyone can enjoy their stay, please keep noise to a minimum after 10:00pm. We are in a valley, and voices carry, so either head indoors or speak quietly outside.

If you have any questions or need further guidance on these safety measures, please get in touch — we’re here to help.
